AVCHD (short for Advanced Video Coding High Definition) is a new High Definition for recording HD video. It is created by Sony and Panasonic and used in many of their HD Camcorders. We can burn AVCHD to Blu-ray DVD directly with DVD authoring software for playing AVCHD on Blu-Ray players, Sony PS3, as well as the camcorders themselves. However, standard DVD still dominated entire DVD world, it's cheap to buy a blank standard DVD disc (while HD DVD costs about $10 for each), and most of family have the DVD payer. So it is necessary for us to convert/burn AVCHD to a DVD disc for normal DVD player.

Part 1: Transfer AVCHD video to computer
AVCHD specification allows using several kinds of recording media, in particular recordable DVD discs, memory cards, and hard disk drives. If you have not done so already, plug in your camcorder to your computer. If an autoplay box does not appear, locate the camcorder's files on your PC. Two folders are needed in order to properly burn an AVCHD onto DVD, and they are BDMV and Certificate. Once they are located, copy and paste these two files onto your desktop. This could take anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes. And the AVCHD video will come to .MTS extension.
Part 2: Burn AVCHD to DVD
After transferring AVCHD video to computer or your Mac, you can burn the transferred AVCHD video to DVD just using a DVD Creator software. It enables you to edit videos and burn videos to DVD. - Download and install AVCHD to DVD Converter
Choose Windows or Mac for your flatform. Then get a blank DVD (DVD +R, DVD-R, DVD+RW or DVD-RW)) onto the rewritable DVD-ROM on your computer. - Load AVCHD videos
Importing AVCHD files that you want to burn onto DVD. Just drag-and-drop the AVCHD file into the main interface of AVCHD to DVD burning program. You can check the video size on the measure bar on the bottom to make sure the space doesn't exceed the total DVD capacity.
- Customize DVD menu
Click "Menu" to customize your DVD menu. There are different styles of built-in templates, frames and buttons for your choice. To apply a template, frame or button, you can just double click it. You can even add text, background music and background image to customize the menu.
- Edit AVCHD videos
Select a video file in storyboard and click on Edit selected video file button to crop, trim, add watermark, plug in subtitles or adjust video effects, according to your specific request. - Burn AVCHD to DVD
After all settings have been done, now you can begin converting AVCHD to DVD. Click "Burn" button to open the burn interface. Set TV Standard (PAL/NTSC) and Aspect Ratio (4:3/16:9) on. Then hit on "Start" button to begin the AVCHD to DVD Conversion progress.
